"Life Passage" is the first single from Shambhu's upcoming EP, also titled Life Passage. Dedicated to the late Chick Corea, the piece overflows with a calming peace and beautiful serenity. Composed and performed by Shambhu on acoustic guitar and e-pads, the piece was recorded at Hamptons Sanctuary Studio and then mixed and mastered by Todd Boston at Magic Cottage Studios in Portland, OR. The sound quality is stellar! I think Shambhu's words tell the story best:
"I was studying music online during the pandemic with the great jazz maestro Chick Corea. Chick was brilliant, energized and brimming with life and unbound creativity. He was a clear and true channel for a joyful and imaginative music. Then quite unexpectedly, he was gone. So I dedicate "Life Passage" to Chick Corea, honoring the nobility of his soulful life and the gift of his inspiring and magical music."
What a wonderful tribute in words and what an incredible piece of music to honor Chick Corea's life, music and influence. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album, which is due out on May 31, 2022.
