The Story of Quogue Morning

My first single for 2026 is Quogue Morning, a song born not from words, but from footsteps.

There is a place I return to again and again, especially in the early hours, when the day is still forming its first thoughts. The Quogue Wildlife Refuge is where I walk without an agenda, simple to be. A place where nature sets a gentle tempo and the mind follows. The trails wind through woods and wetlands, past still ponds that hold the sky like a memory, and under trees that seem to have been listening since forever.

These morning walks are not about observation as much as absorption. The quiet isn’t empty; it’s full. Bird calls arrive without announcement, light shifts slowly through branches, and the land reveals itself in layers rather than statements. As I move through the refuge, breathing finds its own rhythm, and something inside begins to loosen and open.

Quogue Morning emerged from that state.

“When I sat with the guitar, I was not trying to recreate a place or describe it. I let the feeling of those walks surface on its own. The music unfolded the way the morning does—unhurried, spacious, and attentive. Notes appeared, lingered, and dissolved, like reflections on water as the sun rose. There was no destination, only presence.”

This song carries the essence of that experience: grounded, patient, and quietly alive. It reflects a dialogue between movement and stillness, between the inner landscape and the natural world. In that sense, Quogue Morning isn’t about the scenery. It’s about how Nature can invite deeper listening. A walk translated into sound.

Watch for this song. Releasing end-January.
